The six tools become channels on one piece of hardware: dial a subroutine with the ◂ ▸ steppers (or tap a position LED), read its one-line job description in the amber LCD window, set a target if the channel takes one, hit ENGAGE. One selector, one field, one fire key — nothing else.
Most diegetic option: it behaves like tuning the machine, and channels that take no argument dim the target field to a dashed socket. Tradeoff: switching tools is a dial, not a direct tap — repeat use of ONE tool is fastest here, hopping between tools is slower.
D-PAD: shrunk to four micro keycaps on a single slim etched row.

what's the situation at Nipton?
Nipton is a lesson, Courier — one the Legion wrote in fire. Approach from the ridge east of town if you must look.

Wise. Dial FIRE CONTROL to THREAT and run them — the databank holds their venom profile. Do not let them flank you.
